Livingston for a Driving test and Health Fair

On Wednesday, 3/19/2014, we returned to the Livingston, Texas area, stopping at Lake Livingston State Park for two nights. We got our site, left the car and tow-dolly in it and drove into Livingston.
We stopped at a church parking lot where Sharon spent some time backing the RV in preparation for her driving test. We then went to the License Testing location at the appointed time. John took his test and Sharon followed with hers. Neither of us were asked to demonstrate our backing skills. John was disappointed and Sharon was relieved. We are both now licensed - Class A Non-Comercial - to legally drive our truck pulling our home.

We left Lake Livingston State Park after our two nights and went to Rainbow's End Escapees park for a week to attend the activities at the annual Health Fair. We took advantage of some diagnostic testing at a bargain price and visited with some old and new friends.

Friday, 3/28/2014, we left Livingston, Texas for the last time this year (all our required items are completed for becoming a legal Texan) and traveled to Colorado River Thousand Trails RV park in Columbus, Texas. On the way we stopped in Brenham, Texas - The home of Blue Bell Ice Cream. We took a tour of the plant and had some ice cream.
Sharon has always said ice cream will make anything feel better.

We arrived at Colorado River TT on Friday afternoon and set up our home. Setting up and taking down our home is becoming routine. We could do it quickly if necessary but usually spend about an hour doing it. No need to be in a rush, especially this Friday. The temperature was in the 80's and the humidity was high. I took a lot of breaks to sit inside the air-conditioned home.

Saturday we looked for the local attractions and found Columbus, Texas does have one. There is an Oak Tree in town that is believed to be at least 500 years old. It is big.

Many of you know we try to be parked on the weekends traveling only during the week. On reason is to "rest from our labors and attend church". Today we had to drive 31 miles to attend the branch in this area. After church we took the back roads home and found the Blue Bonnets starting to bloom.

  1. Thanks for the pictures and posts. It's nice to see where your at, together with pictures of interesting things. Take for instance the tree almost as old as Dad, that also has similar supports that Dad uses. Hehehehehehe.
