2014 Visit in Nampa, Idaho area

We arrived in Nampa, Idaho about 4:30 PM on June 24th, 2014. After several minutes at our son, Brian’s, house, he took us to his friend’s house where he had made arrangements for us to park for our stay in the Nampa area.

We spent the first few days visiting with some of our grandkids whom we had not seen for 8 months.

On Saturday, Sharon helped Kaden clean the bedroom he and a brother, John, share after which she challenged him to keep it clean.

That afternoon us ‘grown-ups’ went to an outdoor concert activity in Boise where Brian found a t-shirt he wanted. (He has a daughter just turning 16).

Dads that care?

There was not a shirt available in his size. I guess a lot of dads had already seen it.
We followed the concert with dinner in Kuna, ID at a locally popular Mexican restaurant. The food was very good and we enjoyed the evening together.

After enjoying a day of rest on Sunday, us four ‘grown-ups’ took a trip into the mountains to McCall, ID where our granddaughter was working at a Scout Camp for the summer. The occasion was her 16th birthday and we surprised her with a visit and cake.

Our trip back home that afternoon had its adventure. As I came around a corner in the highway where the mountain was to my right and the river to my left, there were three vehicles approaching in the other lane – no big deal – and another vehicle attempting to pass them in my lane – YIEKS! It all ended well for us – just a bit of extra adrenalin – but not so well for the other vehicle. He hit his brakes hard, turned the wheels to the right, let up on the brakes and shot back across his lane, went airborne off the road and landed in the river. No one was injured, no vehicles made contact, and we went on our way after about a half hour.

While in Nampa, I get the routine maintenance completed on the truck and car. Christian, our 18 year old grandson, and our son, Brian, helped get the oil filter changed, lubricated all the steering and drive shaft, flushed the cooling system on the truck and rotated the tires on the car.

While in Nampa we also visited a long time friend, Diane Harris, enjoyed some fireworks with the grandkids on the 4th of July, attended the Boise Temple and had fun with some of our grandkids.
Sharon’s brother, Wade Pierce, joined us in Nampa to spend a few weeks with us this summer as we visit with some of our kids.
