Visit to the Rio Grande Valley

We drove from Kingsville to Harlingen, Tx on Tuesday, 4/1/14. We stayed at Tropic Winds RV Resort for a couple of days. The first afternoon we drove around San Benito, Texas finding places of John's childhood.
This is a view looking across the drainage ditch to where the farm house once stood. The green is on the banks of the drainage and irrigation ditches. Just past the green is the livestock pasture where the house used to be.

This view is looking from the road down the irrigation ditch to where the farm house was

The cattle are grazing where the farm once was. The growth at the rear of this view is on the banks of the reservoir
Back in town we took a couple of pictures of the church which was attended weekly.

On Wednesday we drove to Edcouch, Elsa and Weslaco, Texas. John's grandmother lived in Edcouch, his uncle, aunt and cousins lived in Elsa and his grandparents and one brother are buried at the cemetery in Weslaco.
These next four pictures are of John's grandma's house.

On to Elsa, Texas where we took a couple of pictures. The first two are of the house in which John's cousins lived. The third is of the community swimming pool which they used to enjoy.

Through the weeds the swimming pool can be seen. Perhaps it has not been used for a few years.
We then traveled on to Weslaco, Texas to visit the Weslaco Cemetery. Sharon walked around a bit and found the grave marker of John's brother, Paul David Roberts. His grandparent's headstone was close by.
